The only question to be addressed regarding the death of George Floyd is whether or not the police used excessive force after he was arrested. The sideline issues of his character, having Covid-19, and previous transgressions are not relevant to the events which occasioned his death and the manner in which that death occurred.
It is abundantly clear that once Mr. Floyd was under arrest, in handcuffs and fully controlled by the police then the "control" technique of placing a knee to the neck of Mr. Floyd is what caused his death.
Police have failed in their Duty of Care and also disregarded training in positional asphyxia which is the result of having airways and/or blood circulation compromised by direct pressure applied to body areas vulnerable to such for extended periods.

Would a reasonable person conclude excessive force has been used?
Would a reasonable person conclude that Mr. Floyd died as a result of the use of that excessive force?

The fact that the police involved in this matter have been stood down and the main offender Officer Chauvin has been charged with murder is a pretty good indication that the answer to the above questions is a pretty resounding YES.
