Called the Westralian Supreme Court and was informed that Transcripts of say, the hearing last Mon & Tue have to be requested via the Principle Registrar with an explanation why you need them.

And it will cost about $900.

Another call elsewhere tells me, no,
the number of cases Justice Buss it handling at the moment is not available. Though might I presume, “to the likes of me”?

Similarly, the other 2 Judges workload is also inaccessible. They are Justices Pullin & Wheeler.

A perusal of today’s court list shows all 3 of “our” Judges, Buss, Pullin & Wheeler, are not mentioned.

I intend keeping a watch out for how distracted they become with other cases. Because I like to know! And watch the Court List.

And I “assume” that the time it takes to deliver a judgement is influenced by how much a Judge has on his/her plate.

And I was told, as an aside, that the cost per photocopy page from the Court is around $3 to $4.

Makes me wonder why they allow FREE access to their web site. Except I guess it does stop people like me demanding endless reams of hard copy.

Of course ideally, voice transcripts should be available automatically from the internet.

The Chief Justice Martin, was appointed on the basis that he would reform the Supreme Court. And he might want the above reform (like the CCC provides), but his reform agenda probably can't achieve everything when the system he inherited drives around in a Rolls Royce (a Rolls Royce legal system) in a land called Arcadia.

Arcadia is a place where everyone is on easy street and are contented in every way. A place that society has forgotten about, but foots all the bills. The dictionary say; Mountainous region in the Peloponnese. Taken as an idea region of rustic CONTENTMENT….

In other words, the Pre-Martinized Supreme Court of Westralia. Now being brought slowly but surely, (like the awaited decision), into the 20th century.

Personally, I can’t wait for the courts to be brought into the 21st century with cameras controlled by artificial intelligence so we can watch and hear the proceedings from home over the Rudd-Internet.
