By having a whole bunch of nuclear at the old sites the theory is that they can use the existing transmission lines . That also means that building of renewables would have to stop now as we already have a 40:60 mix. With no more renewables built there would be no need for the REZs and their new connection infrastructure . By halting renewable construction and waiting decades for nuclear to be built , we would have to extend the life of coal fired power considerably . By 15 years at least . Seeing that electricity demand is going to increase as we electrify everything, our co2 emissions would actually start going up. That's why the Dud has been arguing to get rid of the 2030 emissions target . That's the Dud's plan in a nutshell.

70% from 7 nuclear power plants? They must be huge nuclear power plants! Shame all the available sites he selected have already found use for the capacity from the existing transmission infrastructure. i.e it would need to be replicated & there are no savings there.
