    Somewhere along the way turning waste into pellets (effectively charcoal) may qualify for carbon credits if they can prove that charcoal which will remain unchanged in soil for 10,000+ years. Not only that but it is a soil conditioner so improving horticultural performance when used.
    In New Zealand the recent climate developments with high rainfall has aggravated the ‘slash’ problem with water from steeper forest felling material causing downstream disaster to land and waterways.
    If the forest felling can shift some larger pieces to processing rather than being left to rot, it becomes potentially useful. Timber mill trimmings can also be used rather than burned or tipped on site.

    Potential for changed use and previously waste becomes value.
