    Gooday dharry,

May I respectfully advise you to stick with your day job
because if your comment on Gillard was meant to promote the opposition then you have a very short memory.

Less than 6 months ago Tony Abbott did the same thing to
Malcolm Turnbull, a decent and respected person.

This behavour is normal for politics and if you find it
abhorrent then you ought to stay with your day job or better still take up knitting.

While we all empathise and sympathise with Mr Rudd today, we all ought to appreciate our civilised democracy that accommodates change of leadership without bloodshed.

And regarding Twiggy Forrest, he owns 36% of FMG which makes him one of Australia's richest individuals. He did not do it for charity. And by the way, most of the remainder of the company is owned by the Chinese and Americans. The socalled Twiggy backers would not put their money a few years ago where their mouths are now!

And by the way, there is a reasonable arguement that given the current level of iron ore development in the Pilbara, that the market at a future date may be oversupplied which will knock the ass out of price; and wouldn't the Chinese just love that!So all mineral development is not neccessarily in Australia's long term interest.
Our Government should take a tip from OPEC and plan our production to match demand and as such maintain premium price. This does not infringe the Trade Practices Act so long as the product is for export.

Iron ore billionaires like Twiggy, Clive Palmer and Gina Rheinhart indicate to a reasonable person that we are not charging enough for our iron ore RSPT or no RSPT.

Up to last week Rio & BHP were paying 3.6% royalty on fines which fetch $140/tonFOB on the spot market ; thats $4.90 a ton for the taxpayer when the cost FOB is $40/ton.

That leaves BHP & RIO $95.10/ton gross profit. Not bad eh!

This concession royalty rate was negotiated in the early 1960s to offset infrastructure costs including railways.
This infrastructure was cleared by the early 1970s and both multinationals have pocketed the discount since. And to add insult to injury, they now refuse access to FMG & Atlas Iror to "their" rail system. So rather than ask is Twiggy un-Australian, the question should be:

    Is the Big Australian unAustralian?
