You can bet your bottom dollar that Victoria is one of the major culprits in not meeting the housing goal of 240,000 homes per year across Australia and the smaller Victorian target of 80,000 homes per year for the next 10 years.

Vic Labor has run its race in Victoria and has stagnated further under new premier, Dan-In-A-Dress Jacinta Allan.

I cannot wait to hear her pathetic excuses when the horror budget is dumped on Victorians on May 7th.

See report from AFR this afternoon, set out below.

NAB says building approvals at lowest pace since 2013

    Tom Richardson

National Australia Bank says building approvals for February underwhelmed after contracting 1.9 per cent month-on-month, versus expectations for a gain of 3 per cent.
“Over the past year there have been only 162.8k dwellings approved, which is the lowest annual rate since March 2013,” NAB said. “There has been little pick-up on this pace (if anything a further slowing) with the three-month annualised currently running at 153.5k. Prior to the pandemic the annual run rate was around 177k.”

The bank’s economics team said not to expect a supply fix in a hurry. “The building industry is still hitting against capacity constraints, in part as it competes for resources with ample public sector infrastructure projects,” it said.
