    The fire members you are referring to are full time paid members that principally operate in metropolitan areas.
    Most fire-fighters in Australia are volunteers made up from the community they live in.

    So these paid fire-fighters are generally located in Melbourne where most people's neighbours wouldn't lift a finger to save their neighbours.
