State govts are designed to suck up workers. QLD is the Nations greatest example and they have the rising debt to prove it. Dont expect them to fix anything, they are on the tax payers hip pocket and the living is good for little output. Many people do a good job but many are fence sitters on the tax payer. They are all union members from memory so you can imagine that no one from Labor or the greens will want the indirect income removed. QLD is run by an ex union organizer, so reform is out of the question. It is their cancer. You also need the economy doing well and a friendly tax and business environment in order to suck up the workers. This could happen, but no one in politics has an appetite for real reform. It kills their pensions and vote risk increases. The truth is, its too hard for anyone to fix, so it wont ever be fixed even when Bob Hawke wanted it gone. He was a true progressive as opposed to the impostors of the left today. They want more govt, higher wages for less work and business is a milking cow. This shows us how stupid and naive they really are. They cant even work out where the income comes from. Can't fix stupid, but people need to smarten up about which crooks they vote for.
