    The Melba Tunnel and Mullum Mullum tunnels cannot be widened to take that extra traffic allowed for on the 18 lane Eastern Freeway.

    Option C which is a genuine orbital extension to the Metropolitan Ring Road is the best option. It avoids congesting both those tunnels and tracks along an existing road reservation that was set aside when the Metropolitan Ring Road was first proposed.

    It is a much better solution for heavy freight.

    The other design flaw is that placarded freight cannot enter the NE Link tunnels. Vic Roads refused to adopt higher standards that European tunnels use that enable them to carry placarded loads.

    Option A through Bulleen is a far worse option than Option C.

    You really need to get up to speed with the technical issues.
