Germans these days behave in a civilised manner in pubs, cafes, and in public which has no equal in Britain or Australia with their beer-swilling male louts and drunken sheilas. Newcomers adapt - yes there will be some incapable of that, but these people - social parasites - exist even in your original population.
The pipeline project was cause for all kinds of international confrontations, I remember trying to figure out, which route a planned new pipeline was going to take and Turkey figured in that one - for some reasons the Americans supported that, wanted to have control of 'their pipeline' going West - can't remember the detail - but it was full of politicking and didn't make sense. The Nord Stream pipeline makes sense Turkey has expansionist designs on Europe and the Middle East. I am no longer sure of the details - perhaps another HCopperite can me correct on this one.
