To save any further discussion on this....
No Australian Bank raised interest rates by almost double the RBA amount during the Howard government.
My recollection of it is that all rate rises were the same as the RBA.
What has changed now is that we now have a weak government. Something else to thank the Labor Independents for, I suppose.
