Angry Birds is perhaps the most popular mobile game franchise out there, the game is actually available for a wide variety of platforms right now. Rovio, the developer of Angry Birds, has now teamed up with the University of Helsinki to create Angry Birds Playground. Basically, its a set of educational materials geared towards kindergarten-age children. Based on Finland’s educational curriculum, Angry Birds Playground focuses on physical education to language and from art, math to music. Sanna Lukander of Rovio tells The Guardian that Angry Birds Playground is “a full 360-degree approach to learning, where games are just one part of it,” and that its not just “learning by sitting down and playing with a digital device.” 123 Education Development, a Chinese firm, is also involved in this project. It will be initially launched in an early learning centre in Shanghai, China. Students will get branded games, books, toys and an “interactive whiteboard” as well as a “five-string instrument.” The project is said to promote both physical and social education.
