I don’t think anger is the right term. But a good look at some of tte details about who was arrested at climate change protests might suggest that there were plenty of old white men involved. I know a good many of them who are actively engaged in the issue and stand happily alongside their younger protesters. Mind you this has always been the case. The Vietnam war protests saw people of different ages standing together - older people who understood the futility and devastation of war standing and putting themselves on the line with younger people who were more idealistic but saw the stupidity and the political lies and manipulation. The same went way back with the suffragettes wher men and women of different ages saw the possibility of a different way.

Social change happens because people want something different. Their values shift. It might yield something better or something worse but HotCopper alone gives us the clear indication that humans have a tendency to rather assume they are right. They may be. They may not be. But they are seldom right for any length of time anyway. Lets not assume that being older means we are more right. We just have a bigger box of “tricks” up our sleeve.
