I hear what you are saying Miranda, but how many people see a paper profit one day only to see it disappear the next?
What's wrong with having two parcels of shares, one for the long term, one for trading?
That way, in AFL parlance, you get to kick goals both sides of the ball.
If you bought 2 million for 2 cents and sold one million last week near 7 cents or high 6s you would have around $50,000 in your back pocket.
Could have got in again around high 3s or 4 and if sold today could have another $30,000 in your wallet.
If they fall again, buy some more, if not you have $80,000 in the bank and upside with one million shares that may go to 20, 30, 50 cents or a dollar.
Too many times I have seen people make a fortune on paper only to watch it disappear.
No point being a sitting duck with bullets flying around your head, sometimes you need to return fire.
Cheers,
T
