I am not sure where people think that because we live in a "democracy " that people shoukd have choices.

    - The state won't allow parents to refuse treatment for their child based on religious or holistic grounds.

    - The state will take your child away from you if you neglect it.

    - The state willake it compulsory for your child to receive an education

    - the state may institutionalise or imprison children who are a serious threat to the community.

A democracy doesn't necessarily mean you have the freedom to do whatever you want. It means that you get to choose the government who you feel will best serve its people through leadership and the implementation/adherence of laws.

We aren't allowed to do whatever we want. We are allowed within certain parameters. The state will do what it believes is on the best interest of children to often save themselves from their parents. This issue of vaccination is done in the best interest of the child, backed by scientific and medical proof and to save it from its parents.

Parents in this case have a choice. If they feel so strongly about it, get a job and not rely on the gov. I am also sure there is a correlation between welfare recipients and high rates of children unvaccinated which is likely to be through neglect/irresponsibility.
