Many people have forgotten or were never aware of the scourge of infectious diseases of the last century. The risk of infectious disease has been lessened through vaccination, sanitation, food safety and clean water. How many people can remember polio epidemics with wards full of children in "iron lungs" unable to breath themselves. This was the consequence of a real disease, not a global conspiracy.

There are too many myths and lies spread about vaccination.

    1. Vaccines contain large amounts of formaldehyde, mercury and polyethylene glycol. This untrue. Vaccines may contain minute amounts of these and other compounds that are less than the amounts we are exposed to in our daily lives.

    2. Why do we need vaccines for diseases that do not exist in our community? There is only one disease (small pox) that has been eradicated and vaccination against small pox is no longer practised.

    3. Vaccines cause autism. This is untrue and has never been shown. A paper claiming to show a link has been retracted and shown to be fraudulent.

    4. Vaccines are just a way of big pharma making money. Untrue, the margins on vaccines are very small. Big pharma makes most money from drugs to treat chronic disease.

    5. Vaccines weaken the immune system. Not true, this has never been shown. Our immune systems are exposed to and respond to new challenges constantly eg the common cold.

    6. Vaccines do not work. Not true, vaccines have been shown to prevent disease in many many trials in people and animals. There is a very strong correlation between drops in disease and the start of vaccination eg measles.

    7. Homeopathy is an alternative to vaccination. Not true. There is no evidence what so ever that homeopoathy has any affect on disease at all.

Vaccination remains the most cost effective way of combating infectious disease. Without vaccination we would have disease epidemics, higher infant mortality and a lower quality of life.
