CTP *do not* have trillions of dollars worth of assets. The coal cannot be mined and sold, and UCG/CTL would require billions of dollars of investment, an oil price about where it is now to break even, and even then the limiting factor would be the rate at which the synthetic oil could be produced, not the size of the resource. An analogy is solar power. CTP has a huge resource in sunlight, but producing electricity from solar power requires a large investment in solar cells and at present is cost effective only with subsidies. Moreover, even though the solar power resource CTP has is larger than the coal resource, effectively infinite since the sun will keep shining for billions of years yet, electricity can only be produced at a finite rate. So the huge solar power resource is worth very little in terms of the share price.
If they prove oil, gas (preferably conventional) or helium resources that would be a different matter.
