[Which deposits did you refer to? Just interested.]
One of many sedimentary hosted Cu deposits in the Central African Copper Belt. Something being drilled out after discovery some 10 years ago.
Note grade variation.
Parts of Makoko are at depths for 1 Km+ where high grade zones are seldom much more than 10m true thickness.
Kitoko is one of the high grade zones of Makoko with this a section from a 2024 presentation.
The 0.5% contour on this deposit would cover a large area though not much would be considered ore grade = economic at current prices.
Hulk is shallower but likely in a difficult geographical, climatic, environmental etc location. Geophysics and past work suggests there may be something of interest there so some testing is a valid approach. Hopefully at least a semi continuous zone of 0.5%+ Cu with significant but, unfortunately, irregular zones of higher grade Cu for which understanding of geological/geophysical controls may aid exploration.
Ivanhoe's work in the DRC found Kamoa nearly 20 years ago and Kakula 5-8 years later. Still exploring and finding extensions and new deposits under deeper cover. Took some 10+ years to get a mine going at Kamoa after discovery. .

Danvers is perhaps a type example for a style of mineralisation in the Rae district.
- structural control - visible on google earth c10 Kms.
- patches of high grade at surface along this structure - 3 mentioned with one of these added recently by WCN.
- Drilling at the northern two has returned a wide dipping zone of mineralisation. Perhaps more than one sub parallel zones that need more drilling to refine. Not really warranted, IMO, at this stage unless up coming phase 1 and 2 drilling show some strike continuity. Enough historical drilling to put basic constraints on the immediate Danvers area and show it is interesting but unlikely to be economic without significant additions in the area. IMO.
- Sulphide Cu (Cp, Bn, Cc) with some secondaries at surface. Chalcocite (Cc) can be either secondary or primary with the latter probably dominant in this environment. These sulphides + pyrite are present to near end of hole depths as much as 150m vertically below surface.
- Hole 8, while drilled nominally down structure, shows Cu sulphide mineralisation does extend below current drilling.
- Multiple different mineralisation styles are mentioned as well as having a breccia component. Flow top breccia was not my idea of what was involved - didn't cross my mind but given the flow basalt nature of the host worth considering. What breccia style is present is likely important though beyond armchair geo's ability to comment without more specifics - IMO. I wouldn't especially like a breccia pipe as a one off would limit the potential size. Breccia zones at inflection points along the main structure or where cross structures intersect it might be preferable.
Arm waving and geo poetry based on some data and subjective interpretations. Interesting to see what happens in hindsight.
For hole 7 I was once again a little disappointed the grade came in lower than my predicted approx 3%.
The length was pretty much a no brainer as were the two high grade zones within that length. The rig geos will generally be able to guesstimate grades quite accurately now with all data in front of them.
