"We have owned Solstice Minerals (SLS) since in it was a spun out of OreCorp two years ago and became a substantial shareholder after well-regarded geologist Nick Castelden was appointed Managing Director in early 2023. At IPO, the Hobbes Gold project (80% SLS) was its key asset and, whilst it had moderate exploration success culminating in a maiden resource of 177,000oz of gold at a grade of 1.2 g/t Au, it was unlikely to ever be a stand-alone operation. This month SLS has netted $10m from the sale of this project to Northern Star Resources Ltd (NST). As a result of this sale, we estimate SLS now has a cash balance of approximately $17m or 17 cents per share. They just have to work out a wise way to spend it now...
The 60% increase in the SLS share price month to date reflects what a surprisingly good result this sales realisation was for the company"
