Funny that. I don't have to suck it up. I free carried HLX (see below) and other more recent speculative plays like SPQ and GBR.

With HLX, I started with 955,756 units at 2.6c and sold 659,472 to 3.8 to get all my capital back. Portfolio still holds 296k units of HLX. Enough to keep me interested. It was worth $14.8k at the height last year, now only worth $3.5k. Not a financial loss even if she goes to Zero as my original capital is preserved.

The main point is not the premium. Not many can command a premium like DVP can but 10-15% discount is certainly feasible. Shop around, build working relationships, call in a favours, give the financial guys a glimpse of the Ace up your sleeve... In business, what you know is as important as who you know. 20% discount literally means the board and management didn't try. Or worse and a more likely scenario, is the recent performance since the last CR have pissed enough financials that they cannot budge on the 20%.


I'm calling it a night. Good recovery in the US portfolio. Hopefully the ASX continues the run in the morning
