I doubt if they would increase the retail offer. And I think it's a vain hope that the sophs won't be able to participate. Generally the ex-entitlement date is after the soph shares are issued so, if the sophs keep holding, they will get the chance to "double dip" as @umw said. Happy to be wrong, but that's generally what happens.
