there is a lot of misconceptions about US policy in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe itself is NOT sanctioned by the US. A specific list of people and companies are. That’s it. Yes, the list is old and in many respects outdated, and probably needs to be scrapped. But the notion that the US is prohibited from doing business with Zimbabwe is incorrect. While trade between the two countries is tiny (less than US$ 100 million/year), it does occur. Yes, sanctioning members of the govt and other kleptomaniacs encourages the view of many American businesses that Zimbabwe can not be trusted as a commercial partner. But they are not prohibited from doing business there if they so choose.
