LOL....smells on an oil rig. I spent most of my time on offshore rigs so the most common smell would have been the smell of the sea. The smelliest places would be the pit room and the shaker room....especially so if they were running synthetic based mud. Because the mud coming over the shakers and back into the pits is warm after returning from downhole there tends to be a lot of vapour in the air. Thered usually be a bit of gas in the fumes coming off the shakers but usually not in high enough concentrations to be smelt unless they were circulating out a gas kick.
