'The Australian' online on Monday 22 February 2021 has this (and more) about BIN:
(it's a vexed question, but I suggest BIN should pay back this >$1 million in JobKeeper payments now and not 'revisit' whether to or not at the end of 2020-21 as Mr Tartak states. The company isn't an altruist and should look after employees and shareholders but $800000 is not a huge amount compared to its profits. I also have a fair idea what my respected Parish Priest would say, not that he'd give a lecture but might well point out the two relativities. It's possible, but unlikely, in the remaining 4.5 months of the FY that profits will collapse further to a marked extent or disappear).
Returning it soon is a better look. If it was $8000000, different story:Waste management company Bingo Industries says it has no immediate plans to pay back the $800,000 it has received in JobKeeper payments despite, posting a $15.85m profit in the first six months of the financial year and paying out millions of dollars in dividends to shareholders.
“We’ll revisit and make a decision at the end of the financial year to see where our results for the full year end up,” Bingo managing director and CEO Daniel Tartak told The Australian.
“But our profits are down so we’ve definitely taken a hit this past six months compared to where we were 12 months ago, and the market is still volatile.”
