Along with the recent A$1.2m sale of product destined for Ukraine and likely second order, DW also mentioned that there had been significant sales to other countries where it was suspected that the product was to be supplied into war zones.
Recent sales into the Middle East and Turkey have been mentioned and I think there is a high likelihood that this is related to Gaza. DW referred to a large network of charities that include the likes of the Gates Foundation, Medecins sans Frontieres and World Health Organisation. A quick check reveals that WHO receives contributions and donations of ~US$10bn per annum, the Gates Foundation will allocate UA$8.6bn in aid this year and Medecins sans Frontieres has annual income of ~US$2.5bn.
The Gates Foundation provides support in Gaza via financial aid to UNICEF.
Amid the devastating ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Yemen, the foundation has provided financial aid to UNICEF with the aim of assisting in the provision of essential medications and medical care.
Medecins sans Frontieres says on its webpage that it is providing surgical and inpatient care, and medicine and medical consumables donations to hospitals and health facilities in Gaza.
WHO has the following on its webpage
Conflict in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territory
WHO is working with partners to address the most urgent health needs, including through the provision of life-saving medical supplies.
The most pressing health needs include the management of traumatic injuries, with over 57,000 casualties reported as of 4 January 2024....
WHO is mandated by the Executive Board Resolution EBSS/7/CONF/1/Rev1 to secure with donors the funding for the immediate health needs as well as rehabilitation and rebuilding of the health system in the oPt prior the WHA77 with an estimated cost of $332M (approximately $220M for immediate health needs and $112M for early recovery).
WHO and partners will procure and distribute medical supplies to maintain essential health services.
Under KEY ACTIVITIES FOR 2024 it lists as its first priority to
Provide immediate lifesaving pre-hospital and hospital-based trauma and emergency medical services to the injured and critically ill, ensuring the continued availability of trauma kits and essential lifesaving medical supplies.
Meanwhile, Turkey has invested heavily in assisting Gaza. The Turkish Government has provided a substantial donation to WHO for Gaza assistance and between October and December, the Turkish Red Crescent donated almost US$7bn in aid to Gaza, which included medical supplies.
The UAE is also assisting with a 100 bed floating hospital anchored off northern Egypt. The hospital, which is staffed by a team of 100, is providing emergency medical treatment for Gaza casualties.
