Sall I agree with you on the public portfolio needing to have some more light shed on it. I found it interesting that this portfolio was described as a "source of tax efficient liquidity" in this latest presentation which to me indicates that they'll continue to sell it down over time and possibly they aren't separating it out anymore because they see it as less and less relevant. Personally I don't mind the ongoing sell down because I feel like we can all go out and buy something like AFIC if we want exposure to a large cap LIC whereas SOL offers a legitimate point of difference.
Chris I agree with you on the Berkshire comparison. They've had a large weighting towards privately held businesses for a long period of time and that attitude of being a patient capital provider has made them a buyer of choice for many families. I hope something similar is all ready happening with SOL where they are getting access to really good deals because of their reputation and supportive approach. I really think that would stand out in the market place particularly to someone who might take a lot of pride in their family business and want to see it end up in the "right" hands particularly if they are going to stay on in a management role.
