NineLines, believe it or not I have closed these type of early deals myself, yes I run a technology company, yes we have a lot more revenue than 1PG, yes we have large corporate & government customers. Do I get excited about pilots? No I don't the only thing that matters is CLOSED DEALS. 12 months payment upfront if possible.
They are called a PILOT, and pilots are not started with 80,000 users/employees, they are started with 20 or 50 users over 3 or so months. The provider of the pilot bares all the risk here as a lot of sunk cost go into them from support, set up, training, customer success etc.
