"Number of users" on sites like this is a joke. If you get on to FLN and play with the search function you'll see 100x smaller numbers if you try stuff like "search for freelancers who ever got even 1 rating of any kind". A lot of people have clearly signed up to these sites to take a look around and haven't interacted meaningfully with the site (i.e. one completed contract as buyer or seller).

It's quite interesting; really - when you look at how much revenue FLN makes, they clearly have a lot of revenue per active freelancer. So they're doing very well on that metric. But it's more a "lots of revenue from a number of serious users" site rather than a "gather $0.10 from every person on the planet" deal (for better or worse).
