I put great store in this news. The Donald is not a man that likes to be seen to fail. So if he is optimistic of a deal, then something will probably be agreed. This will give The Donald the appearance of success at the very least. Things can then return to normal, at least for a time.

I remind myself of when Trump went to NATO "to force the Europeans to pay more" for their defence. The Donald came away trumpeting his success, yet in reality the European's had agreed to pay more months before the meeting!!

Now whether the Chinese follow through on their trade promises to the Donald -  who knows. By the time that they are discovered to be cheating on any deal (and sanctions re-imposed)  we will hopefully have a signature on a Chinese BTA  and it won't matter
