I expect it is neither Paul nor consumers who are dictating production of 5000 pods per day. My best guess is that a 3rd party has stipulated this as part of a contract and something will be announced on this in the coming months.
This isn't Paul's first rodeo and I highly doubt he would push for that level of production on the philosophy of 'produce it and they will come'.
