There's something to this. MB has never made a significant hire of external talent for any product leadership or technical leadership role. There's a game you can play - look at the bios or LinkedIns of FLN key personnel and try to spot: "higher degree not from an Australian university", "prestigious - or any role - at a notable company (e.g. FAANG)" or "startup exit".
Partly this is about money, but FLN overinvests in Australian staff to make MB feel important.
