The European energy crisis worsened on Monday, with France declaring severe nuclear outages and prices in almost every country on the continent continuing to rise above €300 per megawatt hour (MWh).
The crisis occurs as much of Europe prepares for sub-zero temperatures this winter, including this week in several European capitals.
According to Energy Live, on Monday, the electricity price in France reached €442.88 MWh, the highest in Europe and the highest since 2009. According to the website, the price of energy in France has increased by 15.9% in the last day.
With €434.34 per MWh, Austria comes in second, followed by Belgium with €432.99. Poland’s electricity price, which was previously significantly lower than that of many other countries, has risen by 110 percent in the last day to €344.56 per MWh.
