The problem is: you cannot produce battery-grade nickel sulphate from a nickel laterite ore. It is only good for stainless steel production. You need nickel sulphide ore for the lucrative vehicle battery market.
The solution is: find a nickel sulphide deposit. And Ardea have just successfully done this at Emu Lake!
Th Emu Lake nickel sulphide discovery looks very significant for them.
