Insurers have been handed a nearly full win in nine of the 10 policies heard in the second business interruption insurance test case in the Federal Court.
The case, testing legal issues around pandemic claims, attempted to determine under what ground businesses can claim against insurance policies for losses caused by Covid-19.
The omnibus trial, testing policies from 10 policyholders and six insurers, was hammered out in mid-September.
Justice Jayne Jagot on Friday found in favour of a Melbourne-based travel agent in one case but against the nine others.
However, the outcome of the case will not end the legal tussles, with an appeal date, including a case by Star Entertainment, before the full bench of the Federal Court already locked in for November.
