Kreno, auz with nickel laterite, seems to be stalling with financing now around 2026. Something seems to be holding it up.
If we look at the one metal that has broad uses, it is copper. Batteries, wiring, turbine blade coating.
Also there is no swap for copper, aluminium can be used, but cables need to be 2.5 times thicker for same apacity.
Wheris nickel in a battery can be swapped for manganese.
Also there is early testing of glass. Early testing shows it can hold charge.
So we may see glass batteries, with copper terminals.
Sand to make glass is readily available and very cheap to go from raw to end product, also not a dirty process.
If glass does become mainstream nickel and some other metals will in a way become redundant.
Except for copper as larger application outside a battery.
