Ben Graham or Warren Buffett would say that you look at a business and its worth may be to a private owner but the listed market price tends to fluctuate as Mr Market is emotional.

Thats a powerful perspective I don't disagree.

Its not the "what" of value it's the "how" of value so its interesting that you use it as a description it's a left brain answer rather than the holistic overview.

It's surprising I think how many value investors would answer with the how rather than the what.

Kerr Neilson says "we immerse ourselves in real businesses trying to understand what makes them tick". That's superior in my opinion one example of how you should keep evolving even excellent ideas.
