Platinum's returns according to Lonsec until the end of May - 6.53% versus 20.23% for the benchmark. It appears clear they have missed the market returns. In fact, over 7 years they are around 5% under the index. One must be careful of hoping for a turnaround based upon the fact that they own an investment and it's dropped, rather than any factual basis. The fundamental question remains - why would anyone pay an above market fee to access an investment with a substantially below average return over an extended timeframe.
