I once attended the AGM of a company and as soon as the CEO said the net debt has gone up by $100 due to seasonal increase in inventory I saw someone in the meeting send an sms on his phone presumably to put a sell order on the company. It just shows how share investors are zeroing on one news and the rest of the messages of the company are just ignored.
As Ryan Stokes said, we are coming from a very low base in terms of size of BPT dividend. The CAPEX savings alone from completion of Otway Gas Project is around $220 m per year and $150m per year from Waitsia Gas Project. Add the earnings from these two big projects and the money involved to play with is over $1B per year!
Each 1 cent increase in dividend will cost BPT just $23m.
