If you look at the ANZ SP chart at the link I posted, you will see that the SP always drops upon going ex-dividend. As a result it usually makes very little nett difference whether you buy before or after the Ex date. More important is to keep a weather eye on the SP and buy in during cyclical lows. For example, last week you could have bought at more than a dollar less per share on Mon, than on Fri. I took the opportunity back in Jun to add to my ANZ position @ $22.70 and below.
