    The reason lmi exists is more a regulatory capital cost arbitrage. Ie. It costs banks too much reg cap to retain exposure to the highest lvr pieces .

    new business will return to Hli when interest rates fall and people start trying to buy themselves a house again.

    it will be highly roe accretive for Hli because they will just dial up the reinsurance to give themselves the reg capital headroom for the new business .
