Jack, In light of the fact that I may be one of those who this post was directed at, I will respond.
I think the amount of lightbulbs you attract are getting to your head.
You seem to enjoy telling us how skilled you are. Posts are filled with war stories of old; a 10x here and 20x there 'look at me I have a sixth sense on the markets' type of attitude, and BECAUSE of such previous (un-varified) successes, you have a more superior view of the ways in which markets work, which you then bestow onto us, the lowly herd of group think.
Well that's how your posts come across to me. If they're invested here (in PTM), they are the enlightened, the brave, the never say dies. If your not invested here, you are the peanut gallery, the stupid, the children, the Johnny come latelys, the ignorants, the socialists.
Ironically, the investments you seem to write so much confirmation bias based rhetoric on, are down by a great margin.
And when they're up, even to your break even level, boy do you let everyone know how amazing you are!
Maybe you don't see that. Maybe you really write your posts for yourself.
Or maybe I am really ignorant.
Ironically, you tout yourself to be a long term holder, but constantly fill your coffers up to trade in and out short term. You've told us right here in these pages. Theres nothing wrong with that, but I don't think you need to keep reminding your loyal followers with who you think you are as an investor.
Hold on, maybe you do.
If I could encapsulate the type of investor you come across to me in the positive (ie ignoring all the emotion); High conviction investor that's mostly attracted to companies with a long history, or former darlings that are "cigar butts". Has capital, some dynamic capital management skills (which makes him half trader half LT investor). Likes a punt, but mostly in turn arounds.
Did I get it wrong.
There are no real researched facts in any of your posts. No numbers, No unique thesis, No undeniable knowledge of the company or the industry in which it operates. Just a "dear diary" repeating of self affirming traits.
You are missing a little humility. You are in a fortunate position to be making investing mistakes and be able to average in because you have the means to do so. Im unsure all your loyal students have the same amount of endless capital to throw at an investment idea.
Hold on, maybe they're all mega wealthy.
Your thesis seems to be centred around a "takeover play"and soon! Hardly a long term holders greatest wish.
If PTM is what excites you, then power to you. I think you should really pay heed to MarsC advice. I think he was being nice. The strange thing is, in your response, made it about yourself again, with the very same confirmation bias dribble (oh no sorry, lessons) that he advised you against.
Be humbled by just being fortunate, I'm seeing more of that in your posts rather than "skill", which is counter to what you seem to want to convey through your many posts. And its very healthy to have people who disagree with you, as I do in this company as a LONG TERM INVESTMENT.
