At $3.30, that works out to $1.15bn Market Cap, plus the $700m of Net Debt at the time, so you effectively bought the company when it had a $1.85bn Enterprise Value.
This is never a near-$2.0bn EV business.
$1.2bn or maybe $1.3bn, max
So I think it reflects - in no small part - that you made a poor investment decision by not valuing the company properly.
That's on you, though, and not the fault of any third party(ies)
