Reuters has an interesting article up on European REE objectives.

Lots of gesturing at 'not before 2030' if they start now.
Environmental permits for mines, uneconomic prices, uncertain demand and the need to stand up an entire REE chain make the task very challenging.
I foresee Europe will simply wave the credit card and buy from the US/Aus chains, exporting the environmental hazards.
