They are not funds buying (unless the underlying owner is a fund, they are all nominee accounts, ie it could be hundreds of individual shareholders that all have a nominee account with the brokers). Usually the brokers like the company and when they are speaking to their clients they will encourage them to buy the shares, if they have a nominee account, these shares will be recorded as being held by the broker but the broker will have internal information regarding the actual owner. If it was one entity they would need to provide a change in substantial holding update. I hope that makes sense.
