You’re welcome to a different opinion of course @McQuade but FWIW I strongly disagree. KAR itself was a great example of this back in November.
Plenty of examples of people in the industry getting rumours of breaking news ahead of the rest (the reward of fostering those connections).
How on earth do you think stuff breaks in AFR’s Street Talk and prompts companies to have to preemptively halt to confirm or deny “media speculation”. If you think journos are digging that news out themselves based on their own hard work, I have a bridge going at a good price for you!
