Beef exports send Australian agriculture soaring
Australian agriculture in 2025-26 is set to be the third-highest on record at $91 billion, said the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences, thanks to another strong year of beef sales.
“Demand for red meat is reflected in both strong export volumes and rising export prices, which has led to the total value of meat exports expected to hit $22 billion this financial year,” said executive director Jared Greenville.
Livestock is expected to fetch an all-time high of $40 billion.
ABARES forecasts a 27 per cent increase in crop output, the third-largest on record, thanks to favourable weather in NSW and Queensland with timely rainfall in Western Australia. Both Victoria and South Australia, however, are expected to have lower crop yields due to poor weather.
