Unless it’s near a population centre they will struggle to get the required workforce to run it. The Collie plant cost about 1.2B to build and I think is only about 10 years old. There was a recent article suggesting that current owners are looking to off load it. I think this is becoming quite political as a lot of people are looking at becoming redundant in the near future.
The Worsley power station was originally coal and I think it has been converted to run on gas as well in the last few years. I imagine it’s not a a big dollar conversion.
