The cost of power has gone down somewhat in China, however its still double the cost of OM Sarawak.

This is good information translated from Chinese. It clearly shows that Chinese smelters are losing money at current prices and that their cost of power is US$0.074/kWh as we can calculate from the amount of power required and the cost for that power. ie 3800-4200 kWh, and the average electricity cost is about 1900-2200 yuan,  so each kWh costs approx o.5 yuan or US$0.074/kWh. OM Sarawak is already cheaper by US$150/tonne before the export tax is added.  The Chinese smelters need US$20/tonne more just to breakeven.



Although the cost of coke in downstream purchases generally declined slightly, the overall cost of silico-manganese for manufacturers was still high, resulting in production losses.
　　In terms of electricity cost: the electricity consumption for the production of one ton of silicon-manganese is about 3800-4200 kWh, and the average electricity cost is about 1900-2200 yuan, accounting for about 24%-26% of the total cost of silicon-manganese production.
