Alloy prices holding up well in the USA, not so well in Japan
Imports, stocks to push bulk alloy prices down in USA
July prices for SiMn (65% Mn; 16% Si) to North America remained unchanged at $2,810/t DDP on average. HC FeMn (75%Mn) slightly declined in price to $2,735/t DDP ($2,750/t DDP a month ago). At the same time, FeSi prices dropped by 20% to $4,660/t DDP over the month.
Downtrend to continue in Japanese ferroalloy market
Low demand coupled with the wait-and-see attitude of Japanese consumers was reflected in the continuation of the downward movement in prices for ferroalloys. In July, SiMn (65%Mn, 16%Si) lost $70/t on average, dropping to $1195/t CIF. HC FeMn (75%Mn) was quoted at $1,230/t CIF (-$40/t per month).
