Thanks Embista. Very plausible explanation. It isn't actually gram metres, but I see what you mean.
267m @ 1.12 g/t 267 multiplied by 1.12 gives 299. Mathematically, this calculation gives a result in units of grams (number of metres times average grade) or (m times g/m).
"g m" cannot be used because it has a specific meaning."One gram-meter is the torque created by one gram force acting at a perpendicular distance of one meter from a pivot point."
1 gram meter = 0.00980665 newton meter
However, to use the notation "g/m" gives the appearance of grams per metre.
Anyway, why would the concept of average g/t multiplied by the number of meters be of any technical interest? It is a measurement that is of no use for evaluation or comparison purposes. For example, a useless 3000 metres at 0.1 g/t would give the same result, not that anybody would be drilling that deep. For another example, 30 metres at 10 g/t would give the same result but would be a gamechanging bonanza result.
Pity about the nonsense, they were good drilling results.
